DIME Founders Kevin Nixon & Sarah Clayman recently announced the scholarship fund on Detroit News Station WDIV.
“We recognize that if young people invest in themselves, then opportunity can come out of that.” Sarah also commented, “Education is about employability and getting young people into jobs, and we feel very passionately that that’s our role here.”
After the interview with DIME’s directors, WDIV turned the camera on soon-to-be graduate, Alexis Whyms, as she performed her song “The One” which is currently in production for DIME Sessions Vol. 4, due out this fall on DIME’s affiliate label, Original 1265 Recordings.
When asked about how DIME has helped to enhance her music career, Alexis said, “Just being around my classmates who are here with me… and teachers who are professionals in the industry that has shaped me to be the artist that I am today.”
